The Moulded Seat Insert system (MSI) has been developed to provide custom-made individual seating for clients lacking intrinsic trunk stability. It comprises a close fitting shell mounted on a lightweight framework. The system is designed for disabled children or adults who require specific and precise postural control to enhance the sitting position. It is particularly beneficial to those people who require major body support.
The Moulded Seat is manufactured using strong and durable materials. It is constructed by making a mould of the users body. The seat material is then vacuumed formed to the mould. This method ensures that the seat created meets the precise clinical requirements of the user. A major point of the design is that the seat fits the whole trunk so that the pressures on the trunk are spread over a large surface area dramatically reducing the problem of pressure points.
The moulded seat is mounted on an aluminium frame, which can be used with a large range of devices such as wheelchairs, buggies and static seating frames. When fitted to mobility devices Tendercare Ltd recommend that a stability test be performed to determine the whole combination is stable in normal use.
